MBABANE – The residents of Manzini Region are honoured that this year is their turn to host the King’s Birthday.
This was said by Manzini Regional Administrator (RA) Prince Gija, who was responding to the announcement that was made by Minister for Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe, which was to the effect that this year’s King’s Birthday would be in Mankayane under Manzini Region.
Last year, the King’s Birthday was held on September 6, together with the country’s Independence Day celebration. The King was 55 years and the country was celebrating its 55 years of independence, hence the event was dubbed the 55-55 Celebrations. It was held at Somhlolo National Stadium in Lobamba, under Hhohho Region.
Reacting to the Minister’s announcement, Prince Gija expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of the region for being chosen to host the 56th birthday celebration of His Majesty the King. Prince Gija is also a chief at Nkamanzi Chiefdoms, which are under Hhohho and Manzini Regions.
The RA noted that the people of Manzini felt honoured and humbled by this opportunity, and that they would do their best to make the celebration a success. Prince Gija also highlighted the significance of the King’s birthday as a moment to reflect on his contributions to the nation and the progress that has been made under his reign.
Prince Gija expressed his deep appreciation for this opportunity. He said that it was a great honour and blessing for the region to be chosen as the host of the King’s birthday celebration. He also noted that this celebration would be a very special occasion for the region, and that everyone was eager to make it a success.
Prince Gija went on to say that the people of Manzini region would work tirelessly to ensure that the King’s birthday celebration was a success. He also mentioned that the celebration would give many residents of Manzini the opportunity to see the King in person, rather than just on TV or in the media. He emphasised that this would be a special occasion for the region, and that everyone was excited to make it an unforgettable event.
