MBABANE – Vukubone!

Antidote Music, in partnership with the Eswatini National Council of Arts and  Culture, as well as Antidote Culture Foundation, will be launching an inaugural Vukubone Sound Lab.

According to Antidote Culture Foundation Communications Officer Siphilele Magagula the  Vukubone Sound Lab is a 6 week accelerator program for Eswatini sound artists (singer/songwriters, producers/sound designers, DJs and podcasters).

“The classes will be split into 3 weeks of masterclasses and modules taught by industry experts from Eswatini, South Africa and Rwanda, to name a few, and 3 weeks to work on a project under the guidance of expert mentors in a state-of-the-art studio facility,” she said.

In addition, she mentioned that the project is funded by the Sound Connects Fund, an initiative by Music in Africa and the Goethe-Institut. The Sound Connects Fund is made possible with the financial contribution of the European Union and the support of the Organisation of ACP States.

Worth mentioning is that on Friday, the launch will have keynote addresses by Her excellency Dessislava Choumelova, as well as the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Harries Madze Bulunga. The launch will take place at 8am on Friday July 28, 2023, at Mountain View Mbabane.

“We encourage everyone to  be present and seated by 7:45am, as the event proceedings will commence at 8am sharp. We would be delighted if people honoured our invitation and be a part of taking Eswatini sound to the next level,” said Magagula.
