MBABANE – The spirit of generosity continues to rise in the Kingdom of Eswatini in the midst of the unprecedented inflation in the global economy. Yesterday, Victor ‘Mavikana’ Dlamini donated shoes worth E10,000 to school pupils who need them.

Dlamini readily recognized the need to intervene to help some pupils from his direct engagement with them as a teacher. He is also a very active member of the sports community in the country, having served in many roles including CEO, PRO, and electoral officer among others.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Dlamini said, “I’m grateful that you’re the first to get this first batch we’re starting with. We’re looking forward to getting the second batch before the end of the year. And it may be that what we’ve tried to bring forward may not be enough, but as they say in an English proverb, ‘half a loaf is better than nothing’. So my children I thank you for being here and I’m glad you’ll be taking a little something home with you today.”

The donation is being distributed to all four regions of the country to students who need them. Speaking on behalf of educators, Ntandweni Primary School Principal Thembi Msibi said, “We are very grateful to you for this great gift. It’s much like tithing, it will grow where it came from.”

“I thank on behalf of the students for you to donate these shoes for us. We know that it took you hard work to donate these shoes,” said Lihle Shongwe of Hillside Primary School.

Some of the beneficiaries include St Mark’s Primary School, Bhekephi Primary School, Hillside Primary School, Ntandweni Primary School, Lomahasha Primary School, and Jubukweni Primary School.
