MBABANE – The Ministry of Education has yesterday hosted a Career Guidance Day to encourage wise academic decisions for high school learners for the careers they want.

The event was organised by the Minister of Education and the Municipal Council of Mbabane.

Assistant Regional Education Administrator Nathi Nkambule highlighted that, “Today is a day to expose them, especially those who are in Form 5, to understand what careers are in demand as they go and write their external exams. We also have stalls that focus on entrepreneurship, as some learners are not able to pursue white-collar jobs.”

He added that, “We had a good time here where there were presenters who graduated from vocational schools and have now started businesses which hire other young people. That is also what we’re promoting here today – how the youth can create jobs in addition to getting jobs.”

Nkambule emphasized that the Ministry will continue to expand programmes that teach entrepreneurship in the country’s schools.

Nkosingphile Maseko from Fonteyn High School remarked that, “What we’re doing today is helping us navigate the subjects we have so that we know which careers we can apply for as we go into tertiary.” He added that they were able to better understand the point system used by tertiary admissions as it relates to their passing symbols.

Organisations that were present during the Career Fair include the University of Eswatini, Real Image, the Royal Eswatini Police Sevice, Eswatini College of Technology, and the Southern African Nazarene Nursing University, to name a few.
