LOZITHA – There was a heartfelt moment inside Mandvulo Convention centre, when Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo endorsed South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Khumalo, who is the program Director for the 8th SACU Summit took time to thank and further compliment the South African President on his recent trending speech at Paris.
“I was happy to hear Ramaphosa’s speech which was true and spoke to all of us as leaders and as Africans,” he said much to the applause of the crowd.
Shortly after that Cyril Ramaphosa took to the podium and thanked Khumalo for highlighting his speech.
Last week Ramaphosa highlighted the importance of peace, investment and equitable partnerships in addressing global challenges during a finance summit attended by world leaders in Paris.
Ramaphosa also underscored the challenges faced by African nations in accessing vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Advocating for open access to markets, Ramaphosa said that
“Africa should never be seen as a continent that needs generosity, we want to be treated as equals.” At the summit, wealthy nations finalised an overdue $100-billion climate finance pledge to developing countries and created a fund for biodiversity and the protection of forests.
