MINISTER MOSES CONGRATULATES UGANDA FOR NAM

MBABANE – Member of Parliament and Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Moses Vilakati has congratulated Uganda for assuming the role of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) chair.

He was speaking at the Ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau in Azerbaijan yesterday.

Vilakati is in attendance in his capacity as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

“I would like to congratulate the People and the Government of Uganda for assuming the role of NAM Chair, and further reiterate Eswatini’s support to them as they carry out their duties,” said Vilakati.

In addition he said he believed  that it is time for Member Countries to consider advancing the Agenda of the movement more markedly in order to ensure a new international system based on friendship,mutual cooperation, Justice and world peace.

The Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau themed ‘NAM: United and steadfast in confronting emerging challenges’ is underway at Baku Convention Center, Azernews informs via AzerTag.

Tatiana Valovaya, Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva read out the address of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the participants of the event.

In his address Antonio Guterres hailed the NAM Azerbaijani chairmanship, noting that it contributed to the discussion and solution of the challenges the world faced.

Speaking at the event, Montenegro`s Prime Minister Dritan Abazović highlighted that the Non-Aligned Movement offers a platform for finding solutions to crises and discussions. He stressed that he supports the NAM Azerbaijani chairmanship and its initiatives to further strengthen the global voice of this organisation. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan hailed Azerbaijan`s chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement, saying that Azerbaijan accepted the chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement at a very difficult time during wars and conflicts.
