MBABANE – Health workers in the country continue to receive the much-needed support to protect them as they help the nation. The Minister of Health, Lizzie Nkosi, received equipment from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Georgetown University.
Speaking during the event today, Minister Nkosi said “It is important in our lives that as health workers help us, we protect them as well. There’s a question we should ask ourselves, especially as the Ministry, and that is, as we see health workers giving us life, how are they living? Are they getting help? When you see that they work in health places, we assume that they get priority help. However, as we’ve heard from the presentation today, there’s a lot more that can be done. We should provide this help to them at all times. The equipment costs E531,739, and the mobile clinic cost E1,063,479.”
The project manager, Lindiwe Mkhatshwa, also echoed the Minister’s words when giving her speech. She also explained that there will be testing of conditions like diabetes and high blood presure in order to improve the health of health workers.
The equipment includes a mobile clinic and equipment to test different health aspects like blood pressure, diabetes, Body Mass Index, and HIV/AIDS among others.
