MBABANE – The Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) HRH Princess Sikhanyiso has presented Andreas Dlamini as the new Eswatini Television Authority (ESTVA) acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The Minister was represented by Principal Secretary of the Ministry, Phesheya Dube.

Speaking about Dlamini’s appointment during the announcement at the Ministry of ICT offices yesterday, Dube said, “He is going there to act as CEO for a period not exceeding 6 months. During that period, please advise him as to how you are going to fill that position. Discuss amongst yourselves and come back to report to the us in the Ministry how you you fill that position.”

Dube also announced the appointment of the new ESTVA Board. He remarked that, “We’re sent by the Ministry Her Royal High Princess Sikhanyiso whom we know, as mandated by her colleagues in the Cabinet, to present today the group which will help her – the Eswatini Television Authority Board.”

He added that “she [the Minister] said that as we request you to do the job, we should leave you with a few remarks. The first is to thank you for accepting the appointment as this is work which affects the nation. There are huge expectations on you as members of the Board. At all times the Minister will wish to know what is happening. It happens sometimes that collisions between members of boards lead to poor perfomances. Sometimes it’s collisions between members and sometimes between members and the CEO, which leads to progress being halted.”

“As such we did also emphasize on that there are three responsibilities of the board. The first is the governance of the institution which is very important – ensuring that the organization is working well. The second is to hold the executive accountable and not to collude with that executive. The third is strategy, which is also very important – as well as the finances,” added the Principal Secretary.

The new board consists of new members as well as members from the old board.
