MOTSHANE – Minister of Public Works and Transport, Chief Ndaluhlaza Ndwandwe has officially commissioned the construction of the Motshane-Sigangeni road, as well as the Siteki-Maphungwane (D12) roads.
Minister Ndwandwe visited both areas today, where he remarked on Government’s mission to develop the Kingdom of Eswatini for the people of Eswatini. “We give this work to the contractor so that they can do the work with integrity, humility, and respect towards the community we’re presenting them to today. Especially because they are under the jurisdiction of the local inkhundla and community. We leave even their livelihoods in your hands as the community, so that they do the job without disturbances until they finish.”
“We also urge them to behave like local community members, and be open to hearing from the community about challenges associated with the construction”, Minister Ndwandwe said.
Prince Ndlovula, the Chief of Ekupheleni, also commended the commissioning of the project. He said, “We will now be able to court businesspeople to come here now that the road is here. Previously, we had challenges courting businesses for the area because they complained about the state of the road.”
The Motshane-Sigangeni road will cost E29.7 million, will run for 6.5KM. This as well as the Siteki-Maphungwane road, and will commence construction in 8 August and will complete about 8 months from then. Minister Ndwandwe also promised that it is their mandate to continue the construction of the road beyond the currently commissioned works, stating that the Ministry will continue the works as soon as there is funding after the completion of the current commissions.
