MBABANE – In preparation for the 2024 Easter holidays, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the extension of operating hours for three ports of entry.
The ports of entry in question are Mahamba, Matsamo, and Mananga. The Ministry of Home Affairs has released a statement notifying the public that the Mahamba, Matsamo, and Mananga border crossing points will extend their operating hours during the Easter holidays.
Mahamba’s current hours are from 7am to 10pm, and such will be extended to 7am to midnight on March 28. Matsamo’s hours will be extended from 7am to 10pm from March 28 to March 30. Mananga’s hours will be extended from 7am to 8pm from March 27 to March 28.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has advised the public that during the upcoming Easter holidays, there would be an increase in cross-border travel. In order to ensure the efficient delivery of services, the Ministry would be deploying mobile offices at Ngwenya and Matsamo border posts. It is important to note that other border posts would operate under their normal operating hours.
The Ministry emphasised that travelers would not have to wait longer than necessary to cross the border during the Easter holidays. Their goal is to provide excellent customer service in a corruption-free environment. Part of this service is minimising the number of undocumented travelers as well as those in possession of fraudulent documents. The Ministry asks travelers to comply with all relevant laws and regulations when crossing the border.
The Ministry urged travelers to plan their trips carefully and to check their documents in advance to avoid unnecessary delays at border crossing points.
