MARLKENS – The Ministry of Agriculture has revealed that more than E12 Million was spent by Government to pay private tractors to help citizens in the ploughing seasons. This revelations was made during a meeting between the Ministry of Agriculture and private tractor owners in Marlkens.

The meeting was held to plan for the ploughing season as spring began yesterday.

Speaking about the cooperation between the private tractor owners and the Ministry of Agriculture was Principal Secretary’s representative Mthobisi Dlamini. He revealed that, “Last year, they ploughed over 30,000 hours, which means Government paid out over E12 million. This is a good thing because one of Government’s mandates is, through NMC, to grow the country’s economy and employment. This program works on that mandate and that is why we’re here with private tractor owners today to determine how we’ll reduce challenges this year.”

Veli Shongwe, a private tractor owner under Phondolo Inkhundla, expressed that look forward to better working relations with Government this year, especially when it comes to timely payments.
