… Five of them completed, one still under construction

MBABANE– The Ministry of Health is determined to decentralize medical care in the country.
Six clinics have been currently added to the family of healthcare facilities in the country and five of the six have been completed.
This was revealed in the Microprojects 2021/2022 annual report.
According to the report, six clinics were constructed in this reporting period, five have been constructed to completion and are at DLP (defect liability period) while one is still under construction.
The Clinic Units comprise of the clinic building, incinerator and generator building, guardhouse, wash bay, screening offices, cough booth, and fencing.
“Clinics which were completed and are at DLP are at Sidvokodvo, Tikhuba, Magwanyana, Hlane, and Nkomazi. In progress is the construction of Ndunayithini Clinic where implementation progress is estimated at 40 percent and work on foundations in all structures is complete. On-going is superstructure block work,” explained the report.
Other major projects that the Ministry of Health undertook, in collaboration with Microprojects, include the construction and rehabilitation of the Mbabane Government Hospital Emergency Complex, Primary Health Facilities, TB Centre, Lubombo Referral Hospital, Central Medical Stores, and Water in Health Facilities.
The Microprojects Report also revealed that a total of E157 35 662 was spent on the implementation of projects under the Ministry of Health. “Funds disbursed were for payments for on-going projects and retention payments for completed projects. A large proportion of the funds, E51 721 867 were disbursed on the construction of Institutional houses and clinics followed by rehabilitation at the Mbabane Government Hospital Emergency Complex, rehabilitation at Lubombo Referral Hospital and rehabilitation at and Central Medical Stores. The lowest amount E4 977 711 was disbursed towards Provision of Water in Health Facilities.”
