MBABANE – The Ministry of Home Affairs is seemingly improving their service platforms and a digital era.

Yesterday saw the launch of the Home Affairs mobile money payment system, marking a milestone moment for the Kingdom of Eswatini, heralding a new era of digital transformation and progress.

With the support and participation of its citizens, Eswatini is poised to achieve its vision of a modern and prosperous nation.

In a significant development towards achieving a first-world status, the Minister of Home Affairs,  Princess Lindiwe  officially launched the Ministry of Home Affairs mobile money payment system *468#.

This initiative aligns with the visionary approach of His Majesty King Mswati III, as the nation strives for progress and technological advancement.

The Ministry of Home Affairs mobile money payment system is a groundbreaking innovation that aims to streamline financial transactions and provide convenient services to the citizens.

Princess Lindiwe said this launch follows the successful introduction of the tracking service for identification documents on the USSD *468# platform back in 2015.

“You will recall that in 2015, we introduced tracking service for Travel Documents, Passports, IDs and issuance on USSD *468# platform”, she said.

Although the mobile money payment system was introduced in 2021, technical challenges had hindered its full implementation. However, after months of rigorous testing and improvements, the system is now functioning efficiently and reliably.

The positive response from the public regarding the initial rollout of the Home Affairs mobile money payment system has been encouraging.

The convenience and ease of use provided by this innovative service have been widely appreciated. Building upon this success, the Ministry of Home Affairs plans to make all remaining services available through the mobile money payment system within the next few months.

This expansion will further enhance the efficiency and accessibility of Home Affairs services, empowering citizens with a comprehensive range of digital solutions.

According to Phumlane Zwane, Assistant Regional Civil Registrar, the Home Affairs mobile money payment system is set to revolutionise the way citizens interact with the ministry, enabling secure and swift financial transactions from the comfort of their mobile phones.

With this modernization drive, the nation takes a significant step towards realising its aspirations of becoming a first-world country, bolstering economic growth, and ensuring the well-being of its citizens.
