MBABANE – Minister of Housing and Urban Development HRH Prince Simelane says his ministry is now accepting applications for Sectional Titles following the commencement of the Sectional Titles Act in the country on 1 April 2022.

The Sectional Titles Act gives emaSwati the chance to own a share of a particular complex or development along with an undivided share of the common property. The properties are generally referred to as units and include, for example, apartments or flats, townhouses and semi-detached houses. The details of the procedure are being publicised through current radio programmes, the print media,

Developers can send their applications to the Sectional Titles Board housed at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Speaking during a media briefing yesterday Minister Prince Simelane said “We all know that housing falls under the three most important needs and we have further been mandated to house the Nation. We believe that this legislation widens the chances of all emaSwati owning their own houses.”

“It has taken us four years to get to this day and we are quite excited that it is finally happening. We want to assure the Nation that in the four years we haven’t just been sitting but we were making sure that challenges and glitches that we could face moving forward be minimised as much as possible,” added the Minister.

Minister Simelane also highlighted that the country has benchmarked against other countries that have this law in place. He also said they have equipped their staff with all necessary training and have put all other resources in place so that the operation is as smooth as possible.
