MBABANE – BET nominee Uncle Waffles ended her North America tour yesterday on a high as Missy Elliot came out to see Uncle Waffles perform last night.
She played for the last time at Revolt World Atlanta GA, as usual, the Amapiano Princess packed the venue and also had a special sprinkle as Hip Hop maestro Missy Elliot came out and gave her flowers for being a crowd puller and an entertainer.
“Uncle Waffles is in her bag, I swear. I’m literally screaming,” said Missy Elliot on her social media platforms where she was sharing videos of the Swazi-born artist.
Meanwhile, Uncle Waffles also gushed about the attention from Missy Elliot who has a career span of over 20 years.
“Guys she came out to see me, Missy Elliot came out to see me,” said Waffles in excitement.
She too took to her social media platforms accessed by over a million people and shared her videos with the female rapper.
Following the release of her lead single ‘Yahyuppiyah’ Uncle Waffles a few months back dropped her second EP titled ‘Asylum’.
The 7 track project features the likes of ‘Shakes’, ‘Les’, ‘Justin99’, ‘Tony Duardo’, ‘Eeque’, ‘Pcee’, ‘Chley’, ‘Milkie’, ‘Scumie’, ‘Ghost’, ‘Optimist Music ZA’, ‘3TW01’, ‘Jelly Babie’, ‘Given Kanu’, ‘DJ Stresser’, ‘Vuyo Ndevu’ and ‘Claras Deejay’. This release follows her co-sign from Missy Elliot on Twitter.
This project is a must-listen as it expresses a lot more of Uncle Waffles’ musical taste and journey in the music industry as she comes a long way from being pushed into the industry to becoming a full-on global superstar over the course of a year and a half.
She has done so much in her career from getting brand deals with Hyundai and Jagermeister as well as becoming the first Amapiano DJ to create their custom meal with KFC. She has indeed made history in the past year and this album just practically represents her growth and success as well as the challenges she has faced mentally and emotionally.
It is an amazing experience sonically as she spotlights new talent for us to discover. ‘Asylum’ will detail who Uncle Waffles really is if you do not have an idea on who she is.
She took to her social media to describe the project, where she detailed what it meant to her.
“Asylum this project is a representation of how I felt in my mind trying to grasp an industry I was blessed to be thrown into, an artistic portrayal of emotions and feelings, of growth, highs and lows and all the in-betweens. It’s been a journey creating something I love, and I hope y’all love it too,” she said.
