MBABANE – Afro-pop singer Mk Loongsta has released his new song titled CELUNG’FONELE.
The single was produced by TNS Savvy, featuring Siantor Siwela and Tho8ISA. It is available for streaming on all digital platforms. According to the artist, more music is coming this year, including his song titled, Ngaphose ngaphel’ emandla, which is still being cooked in the studio by TNS Savvy. He has worked with the likes of CSM and YC Purpose on some songs, and he shared with this publication that those features motivated him a lot.
Lungiselelo Satiso Mkhumane was born 23 years ago. He studied at Ebenezer High School. According to the hip-hop artist, he fell in love with music back in 2016 when he was doing Form 4. When reached for comment, he said, “I love all music genres. I love Lyrickal Busta. I grew up listening to Emtee and looking up to him. They are both my favourite artists.”
When asked what he was hoping the new minister of Sports Culture and Youth Affairs should do for local artists, he said, “The minister can work towards creating and supporting programmes that focus on developing talents at the grass-roots level. The minister can collaborate with private-sector organisations to invest in local artists. Also to provide sponsors for talented artists who are not financially stable. As artists, we need full support in music. I think he should provide us with gigs and market us inside and out of the country, as he knows big people around the world.”
When asked how local music is doing compared to other countries, he said, “We are not that far from countries like South Africa because some of our local artists get airplay in our neighbouring countries. Our country is trying hard to promote local artists, as you can see from the likes of Lyrikal Busta and Young Zesh.”
Loongsta performed at the Hlathikhulu’s first annual crossover and shared a stage with Musiholiq on December 31st last year. He advised aspiring artists to stay positive, no matter how challenging the music industry is.
