MBABANE-More Sugar will be exported to United States of America (USA).

This was said by the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo, when giving update on the USA-Africa Business Submit, which he attended last week. During this meeting, opportunities that come with the African Growth Opportunities Act (AGOA) were discussed, with an aim of looking at how trade opportunities under this programme could be maximised.

Minister Khumalo was giving an update on the trip on Eswatini TV’s Market Review. The minister reported that the meeting was highly productive, with African countries making compelling pitches to attract investment and expand trade opportunities with the USA. He stated that Eswatini engaged in fruitful discussions with prospective investors and traders, exploring avenues to bolster trade relations between the two countries.

Khumalo described the meeting as successful, highlighting his engagements with numerous prospective investors and efforts to strengthen relationships with existing investors. He mentioned exploring various trading opportunities, including increased sugar exports to the USA, and connecting interested parties with the Eswatini Sugar Association (ESA). Khumalo further emphasised the importance of expanding intra-regional trade and promoting the guided trade initiative for further collaboration among partner states.

He added that there were approximately 39 companies in Eswatini, which were currently exporting to the USA across various sectors. He emphasised the importance of solidifying and broadening business relationships with these companies to further strengthen trade ties and explore additional export opportunities between the two countries.
