MP LORRAINE TO FLY ESWATINI FLAG ON WOMEN AND CIVIL SOCIETY

MBABANE– Honourable Lorraine Nxumalo, the Lubombo Region’s Member of Parliament will be departing today to the United States of America (USA) to participate in an International Visitors leadership Program (IVLP).

The visit was announced by the US Embassy, where they mentioned that in the next three weeks, she will be hoisting the Kingdom’s flag on ‘Women in Politics and Civil Society’.

Nxumalo will be visiting Washington D.C., Minneapolis, Phoenix and Boston. She also mentioned that she was looking forward to the trip and learning more about women and politics.

“I am really keen to meet, learn and network with different women in wide spheres of influence. We are always advocating on having women take up space, and this is the perfect platform for it and a great step to that,” she said.

The MP, representing the Lubombo Region, is a strong politician and businesswoman at the forefront of decision-making in the country.

She is passionate about women’s empowerment as she has publicly shared her opinion on the topic. Furthermore, Nxumalo said her area of interest is the topic of young women as pioneers of entrepreneurship and helping young women unlock and advance their leadership potential.

Worth noting is that Honourable Nxumalo is one of the first four women politicians to be elected at the regional level and is the first Lubombo Regional MP.  She is a fierce advocate for women’s rights and has been very vocal regarding issues of gender-based violence and improving the status of women by giving them access to justice and removing limitations to economic prosperity.

The event she is attending is the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) is the U.S. Department of State’s premier professional exchange program.

Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country first-hand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts.

Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
