MOTSHANE – Motshane Member of Parliament (MP) Wilton Nkhambule presented a newly built house to Rafael Gamedze (66), who had been living in distress for many years.
The presentation, which took place yesterday, was attended by special chief of Mpolonjeni, Deputy Prime Minister’s representative Oliver Ndlangamandla, who is also a senior social worker.
Nkhambule expressed his gratitude to God for the success of the house-building project, stating that without the Almighty’s blessing, nothing would have been possible.
He stated that his role as an MP has given him the opportunity to help people in need, and he felt privileged to have been able to provide assistance to Gamedze. The project was completed in one month, with the support of Build it, who supplied the materials, and the community, who contributed their labor and bricks.
Ndlangamandla expressed her appreciation for the MP’s initiative, stating that it is vital to care for the elderly and that the situation of Mr. Gamedze was indeed dire. She noted that the Ministry of the Deputy Prime Minister is planning to build houses for other elderly members of the community, and that this project is just the beginning. She commended the efforts of the MP in making this happen, and urged the community to continue supporting such initiatives.
Gamedze expressed his gratitude for the new house, and said that it was a blessing from God that he was able to receive such assistance. He recounted how he had approached the MP to inform him of his situation, and was grateful that the MP had taken the initiative to inspect his old house and organize the building of the new one. He also expressed gratitude to all the people who contributed to the project, saying that they had restored his dignity and given him a sense of pride.
