MBABANE– President of Eswatini Traditional Music Association Mshikishi ‘Gorilla Man’ Mndzebele and Sonkondlo Christian Maz has joined the line-up for the much-anticipated launch of the first Isintu Festival to be hosted in Eswatini.
Isintu Festival which is also known as Isintu Trends Festival will be held this coming Saturday at the Mbabane Theatre Club.
It is worth mentioning that entry to the event is free and donations are welcome.
This publication reported on March 6, 2023, about the festival which is a new concept in the arts fraternity in Eswatini and rotates around different countries promoting Indigenous music.
Event organiser Larry Mhlanga mentioned that various artists would showcase their talent on the theatre stage.
“The Isintu Festival will see a number of artists from across the region and local acts showcase their talents at the Mbabane Theatre Club.
“We are grateful to be adding Mshikishi who is a seasoned indigenous musician as well as our award-winning poet Christian Maz. We anticipate a great exchange of beautiful cultures and music at the event.
“The line-up will also feature artists like SEBAGA from Botswana, Gagamela from South Africa, Indabuko African Orchestra from South Africa, and Sisa from the UK instruments,” said Mhlanga.
Mhlanga further mentioned that as part of the cultural festival, there would be traditional dishes which will be served including Jelof rice, Amatemba from Zimbabwe, Ligusha, Umnqushu, and many other African dishes. Jelof rice, Amatemba from Zimbabwe, ligusha, and many other African dishes.
