“Basically, we are looking at the gaps in terms of financing businesses and issues of how to develop a business plan that can attract a financier. We are also looking at what sort of approaches we need to take as we move forward with this process. We are excited that our model will be rolled out in the region as this is the first model that has been developed for Southern Africa,” said Dlamini.

The MSME Financing Model was launched by Minister of Commerce Manqoba Khumalo in November 2021. The financing model aims to stimulate the sustainable growth for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the Kingdom of Eswatini.

During the launch, Minister Khumalo noted that MSMEs in Eswatini have the potential to contribute considerably to employment, economic growth and poverty reduction and that Innovation-driven MSMEs can be a catalyst for structural transformation.
