The fashion show, set to take place at the Bring Your Fire Zone, aligns with MTN Bushfire’s #BRINGYOURFIRE mandate, which encourages individuals to contribute to collective action on social and environmental issues. The zone serves as a space for artists, activists, and organisations to advocate for causes such as environmental sustainability, gender diversity, and education.

Seed Soil Harvest Director Futhi Mavuso emphasised the urgent need for sustainable practices and the reduction of plastic usage. The Circular Couture initiative exemplifies innovative approaches to repurpose waste materials and reduce environmental impact, complementing efforts to address plastic pollution.

“We commend the government and all stakeholders involved for their commitment to this essential cause,” says Mavuso. “The plastic ban not only aligns with our mission but also encourages individuals and businesses to adopt more eco-friendly practices.”

The fashion show serves as a platform to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of plastic pollution and the importance of embracing sustainable alternatives. By showcasing garments made from recyclable materials, MTN Bushfire and its partners hope to inspire individuals to rethink their consumption patterns and embrace a greener, more sustainable future.

With the support of the community, government, and other organizations, MTN Bushfire and its collaborators are committed to fostering a culture of sustainability and responsibility. Together, they aim to make a significant impact in the fight against plastic pollution and climate change, paving the way for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable world.
