MBABANE – When government announced re-opening of schools on Monday, MTN Foundation decided to resume the revision classes on Mathematics and Science on national radio.
This was effective from Wednesday.
According to MTN, This program covers classes that sit for external examination which are Grades 7, Forms 3 and 5. It is supported by MTN Foundation, the corporate social responsibility wing of the company, in collaboration with Eswatini Broadcasting and Information Services (EBIS) and the Ministry of Education and Training. The radio lessons are aired from Monday to Thursday from 7:15 PM to 07:45 PM on EBIS 1 and on Tuesday and Wednesday from 7:15 PM to 7:45 PM.
MTN has stated that the radio program is an attempt to provide additional resources and approaches in understanding key concepts in Mathematics and Science.
“The carefully curated content on subjects traditionally perceived to be complex, is delivered in a way that makes it easy to access, process and master. Through the MTN Educare website, students have access to digital study materials, which include past exam papers. One of the inherent benefits of this program is that, as far as is possible, content delivery takes place in SiSwati,” the company said.
During the recent COVID-19 induced lockdowns, radio has been used extensively by the Ministry of education and training to disseminate educational content.
MTN encourages students to take advantage of this radio program as one of many ways to refresh what they have learnt.
“Radio is one of the most accessible media platforms which is not laden with data costs. Teachers and students who have been part of the revision classes agree that the program helps students master Mathematics and Science content. Therefore, we request parents to encourage their children to participate by consistently tuning in,” it is stated.
