MBABANE – MTN Eswatini Foundation has once again stretched its giving hand this time around to the fight to eliminate malaria.
Eswatini Positive News has gathered that the Ministry of Health has received E100 000 from MTN Eswatini Foundation towards the National Malaria Programme.
This contribution is accompanied by various in-kind contributions that the National Malaria Programme has received since the implementation of the 2021-2023 Malaria elimination strategy.
In fact, contributions received this month include E200 000 from Eswatini Sugar Association as well as internet services worth E54 000 from Jenny, both channelled towards the End Malaria Fund (EMF).
Minister of Health Lizzie Nkosi said the End Malaria Fund has played a critical role in resource mobilisation to mitigate gaps witnessed by the National Malaria Programme and in responding to these urgent needs timely.
She said this would not be possible without financial or in-kind contributions.
“We continue to value and appreciate all of our donors, both local and international, stakeholders as well as the citizens who have helped advance the elimination agenda. We continue to implore every citizen to join us in the last mile towards malaria elimination,” she said.
EMF Chairperson Thandile Nxumalo said: “I would like to thank all stakeholders that have worked with us in eradicating malaria. It is another season of malaria right now and a very important time that the Nation needs to be aware that malaria is happening.”
Meanwhile, MTN Eswatini Foundation Chairperson Busisiwe Simelane said, “the MTN Foundation, one of our main pillars, is to contribute to the health of Eswatini. This contribution is our way to confirm that MTN is on board with the Ministry in ending malaria.”
