MANZINI – Praising in colour

Mavuso Exhibition Trade Center is a hive of activity as the MTN iPraise is underway the place is packing up as gospel lovers keep flocking in.

There is a play area that is currently being occupied by children and toddlers who are running around with no care in the world.

Food stalls are amassing clients and customers faster than they could say ‘Fries’.

As soon as you are cleared by the security at the main entrance, you make your way to the arena.

You are met by the huge stage, adorned by sponsor flags which include Destiny Music, Eswatini Air, Cert among others.

When you walk a little closer you realise there is a yellow lounge which is the premium lounge, this is where you enjoy your money’s worth. From cushy seats, drinks and a spectacular view of the state.

Making your way to the stage or a sit, you are met with individuals adorning their most colourful outfits.

The outfits honestly range from Pink, purple, green and orange these are considered colourful thanks to Vogue magazine 2023 summer issue.

A closer look around the large arena which is 90 percent occupied as of now, you realise there are people from all walks of life.

Young adults, adults, devoted church teenagers and probably rehabilitated persons, this show really is inclusive.

A conversation with a couple of the gospel lovers, the most anticipated act tonight is Linda Dlamini and Ayanda Tanzi.

“ I’m looking forward to seeing local artists, Linda Dlamini and Nothando Hlophe are my picks. My favourite is also here, Ayanda ,” said one Lindo Mdluli.

There was also a shake up and tone setting to the event when a South African singer took to the stage.

In what seemed like an infusion of Amapiano and gospel had revellers jumping up and down in jubilation or holy spirit for a lack of a better word.

Clad in an all white ensemble toned down by a brown suit blazer, Jumbo sang songs like ‘Getsemane’ Big Nuz yes Big Nuz’s Ngeke Ngivume.

Overjoyed gospel lovers crammed the front of the stage and waved hands. Other singers that have already graced the stage include the Zion group Tenteza nemakhalanga.

The zinoist performed for a good hour, and just like their state of spiritual sobriety their performance ended on a high.

Yet to take to stage includes Nothando Hlophe, Benjamin Dube with the Spirit of Praise.
