MBABANE – With Sihlangu in full-time camp for the upcoming TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the MTN Premier League will take the backseat at least until the weekend of April 1 to 2.
Ideally, the FIFA week begins only on Monday but the Eswatini Football Association and the Premier League of Eswatini have taken a conscious decision to allow the senior football national team to prepare adequately for the back-to-back Group B matches against Cape Verde.
Dominic Kunene and his charges will be away next Thursday March 23 with the home game, mostly likely to be staged at Mbombela Stadium scheduled for March 28.
In a media statement, the PLE Chief Executive Officer Kenneth Makhanya said, “The PLE has rescheduled the MTN Premier League week 20 fixtures to the weekend of April 1-2, 2023. This is due to the national team call-up of players from nine different clubs for full-time camp from March 13 until March 30, 2023.”
Sihlangu are currently away in Lesotho for friendly games with Likuena Likuena. However, the MTN National First Division will continue unabated.
Makhanya added that the PLE Board of Governors will be attending an administration workshop on Saturday March 18 at the Happy Valley Hotel.
“This workshop will cover topics that will be facilitated by EFA covering FIFA Plus, 2023/24 season Club Licensing requirements and refereeing performance updates, PLE draft constitution and ticketing,” he said.
