MBABANE– Municipal Council of Mbabane in Association with Swazi Med has officially inaugurated the Sandla Outdoor Gym at Sandla Park, along Simhlolo Road, in a ceremony attended by esteemed guests including the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Prince Simelane. This remarkable facility, equipped with 17 state-of-the-art gym equipment, including five specifically designed for disabled persons, marks a significant milestone in promoting fitness and inclusivity within the community.
The head of Parks and Recreation, Titus Dlamini, emphasized the importance of the new gym, stating, “This facility will provide opportunities for people of all abilities to lead healthier lives and enhance their overall well-being.” The gym’s dedication to catering to disabled persons has already garnered praise and excitement from the community, as it helps them pursue their dreams.
Among the attendees was Vusi Mntungwa, a resident living with disabilities and a Mbabane West Bucopho nominee. Mntungwa expressed his gratitude towards the Mbabane Municipality Council, stating, “We thank the council for opening this facility. It will go a long way in keeping us fit as we also have a basketball team. Additionally, it will help us achieve our dream of having a wheelchair racing team as part of the disabled sporting community.”
The Sandla Outdoor Gym not only symbolizes progress and inclusivity within Mbabane but also serves as an invitation for residents of all abilities to partake in a healthier lifestyle, all while fostering a sense of unity and community.
