MBABANE – Rap Gospel musician Chris X is making an Impact this festive season. The rap artist is closing off 2021 by putting smiles on the less privileged across the country.
Through the “Project Donate Clothes” initiative, the gifted musician encourages the public to clear their closets and spread the holiday cheer to those who unable to buy themselves clothes, shoes and even food.
And just like last year when this noble campaign was launched, Chris X teamed up with community members to identify deserving beneficiary and also spread the message to others who would be interested to join hands with him.
While most kids look forward to spending the festive period with their family, share gifts and wear their best outfits, some miss a hero in their families.
Chris X took it upon himself to stop this sad trend.
“Basically what prompted me to start this initiative was realising that towards the festive season that is the time for joy, when people meet their families, there is a sharing of gifts, for some there is even shopping sprees specifically for the festive season,” he said.
In addition, he said, “Not everyone is privileged to have such luxury or an. I discovered there are so many people especially young people both girls and boys who have no one to bring a smile on their face”.
Furthermore, the rap gospel singer called on people in the country to clear their closets and donate those clothes and shoes to the people they have identified. When asked if he had partnered with any organization on the campaign, the musician said he was solely behind the initiative.
“I sacrifice my own fuel and car to do the collections and distribution,” he revealed.
He further said he started this initiative in his own community where he used to donate clothes he was no longer using. According to the versatile artist, the campaign gained momentum when he started promoting it using his social media platforms.
“The precious batches collected have been distributed in Nhlangano, however with the hope that this time around I will collect more I am looking forward to extending my donations to more communities even those outside in Nhlangano,” he revealed.
Furthermore, in this initiative, the talented musician said donations were not limited to casual clothes only.
“We welcome school uniforms as well, I find this as the perfect time to collect them and distribute before the schools open in January to ease the stress on the children and or parents in need,” he said.
Chris X further shared his future plans for his growing initiative.
“My vision is for this initiative to grow to the extent that we donate to hundreds of young people not only clothes but even other necessary essentials. Be it sanitary pads (which I am already collecting), food, household essentials and a whole lot of other stuff,” he concluded.
