MBABANE– Award-winning singer Mzwaa has once again shifted the Eswatini music scene paradigm with his new soul-infused love song ‘Khumbule’.
Having dropped a visual teaser for the song days ago, the project finally dropped today and internet fanatics cannot get over the work of art.
The four-minute low bass song is about a man who is greatly missing his love, he goes on to express how much he misses his other half and how sorry he is for messing things up.
During the compilation of this article, the song was sitting on over 300 streams on Spotify alone.
The Antidote Music’s Mzwaa in this piece of work stuck to his origins and sang in SiSwati.
He mentioned that the video or promo visual everyone saw on Tik Tok was an introduction to the song that has finally dropped.
“Well, what people saw on Tik Tok was just a promo for the single that dropped today. Visuals for the single will drop at a date soon to be announced. We tried to capture the essence of the song and give life to the lyrics,” the singer said.
In addition to that, he said it has never been easy putting quality work together but this has been a collaborative effort between him and his team.
“The teaser we dropped actually applied a bit of pressure on us to get everything wrapped up because the response has been amazing,” he said.
‘Khumbule’, is taken from the Siswati word ‘Ngikukhumbule’ which expresses a deep sense of remembrance and longing.
This makes the song a smooth siSwati ballad driven by synth bass and lush chords. Mzwaa said the record carries a feeling of nostalgia drenched in his sensual vocals perfect for that romantic dinner out.
“The song was co-produced by South African producers Truhitz and Cocayn, who have production credits for Stogie T, Kwesta and Ricky Rick just to name a few. Fans can look forward to more music and collaborations from Mzwaa this year,” he said.
One would remember that Mzwaa‘s love for music was inspired by his parents who were avid lovers and collectors of music. His father exposed him to jazz music, while his mother the rhythm and blues from the Motown era.
The Manzini-based artist first burst onto the scene after winning the 2018 MTN Bushfire Firefly competition and went on to perform at the MTN Bushfire Festival.
Mzwaa made a game-changing impression with the release of his eclectic and fresh RnB/Soul-infused anthem, ‘I Got It’, released in October of that year.
In 2019, Mzwaa finally released his highly anticipated debut EP titled ‘Right On Time’.
A cocktail, of RnB, soul and hip-hop woven together by stories of tribulation, triumph, love and aspiration told through the words of an optimistic Eswatini youth. The EP featured golden songbird Velemseni as well as rapper Young Grixxly.
His debut EP earned him two nominations at the 2019 MTN SWAMA Awards under the Best Newcomer of the Year and Best Collaboration categories. Mzwaa went home with Best Collaboration for ‘Lutsandvo’ featuring Velemseni.
