MBABANE- The future of CMAC is now in the hands of a new man!

This follows Minister of Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi’s commissioning the CMAC Board with a membership of 10, appointing Mzwandile Dlamini to be the Chairperson. The minister commissioned the Board today.

CMAC is the acronym for Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration Commission. It is an entity that mediates in labour disputes.

Other Board Members that were commissioned were Penelope Mkhwanazi, Thulisile Dladla, Wonder Mkhonza Phendulile Zikalala, Tholi Vilakati, Armstrong Dlamini, Nokwazi Mathabela, Canaan Dlamini and Lomkhosi Magagula (Secretariat). The minister has also replaced two deceased Scholarship Board Members, with Bongiwe Dlamini and Brian Vilakati.

Dlamini takes over from Zweli Jele, who was the chairman in the previous board. Effort to get comment from the new chairperson proved to be futile by the time this report was being compiled.

However, this Eswatini Positive News gathered that Dlamini has over 12 years’ experience working in human resources. He was Human Resources Officer at Peak Timbers before moving to Eswatini National Housing Board as Human Resources Manager.

The Commission is independent of any person, statutory body, political entity, employer, employee, federation or organisation. It is led by a tripartite Governing Body of ten members, appointed by the Minister for Labour and Social Security after being recommended by the Labour Advisory Body.

CMAC offices opened its doors in January 2001.

After opening its Head Office in Mbabane, the Commission spread its wings to establish offices in each of the other regions of the country, ensuring that parties cover minimum radial distance to obtain its services.

The formation of CMAC indicates a paradigm shift from the formal and cumbersome method of resolving labour disputes to a more approachable, informal, flexible and improved system in line with global trends. Rather than queuing in the court for one’s matter to be resolved, CMAC provides a quick and affordable mechanism to labour dispute resolution and prevention.
