MBABANE – Royal Eswatini Police Services (REPS) will officially launch their crime prevention week on December 9, 2022 at Lobamba.
This was revealed by Chief Police Information and Communications Officer (PICCO) Phindile Vilakati during an interview with this publication.
Crime prevention is the attempt to reduce and deter crime and criminals. It is applied specifically to efforts made by governments to reduce crime, enforce the law, and maintain criminal justice.
Vilakati further mentioned that the National Commissioner of Police William Tsitsibala Dlamini she was responding to questions pertaining warning and alerts issued by the REPS in festive holidays.
“We have everything in place but the NATCOM will officially launch them next week. It is best we wait for him to launch the programme only then I can then deal with the roll out of the message,” said the police mouth piece.
The country has witnessed great strides taken by the government through REPS to ensure that crime is a thing of the past in the country. This exercise is done every year without fail.
According to the REPS yearly report dated 2021 -2022 there a number of crimes that had been reduced down by 14 per cent. These included sexual assault, break inns and robbery among others.
