LUDZIDZINI – “The deliberations of Sibaya will not only dwell on Governance but will also touch on the social landscape of the nation. Whatever thorn you have, speak it out before you have a heart attack. So this is your opprtunity to speak to the King.”

These were the words of His Majesty King Mswati III when initiating the Sibaya people’s parliament yesterday. Indeed the public heeded the call as thousands of Emaswati have once again returned to Sibaya to make their submissions and raise issues in front of Their Majesties and the whole nation.

The proceedings for today commenced with members of the public trickling in from all corners of the Kingdom, Those who arrived early were treated to breakfast at the Ludzizini Royal Residence as they awaited for the day’s proceedings to officially commence.

Some members of the public have begun making their submissions, following the clarification of procedures for the Sibaya people’s parliament. Speaking about the next few days, Sibonginkhosi ‘Dr Shakes’ Dlamini expressed excitement and appreciation that this moment has finally arrived, as His Majesty had promised.

“This is what we have been waiting for, and we are happy that His Majesty has called us here to participate in the building of the nation,” said ‘Dr Shakes’.

His Majesty also revealed to the nation that he has assigned a council of governers to process the submissions made at Sibaya, adding that the Sibaya platform was also the appropriate one to make submissions about adding members to the council of governors.

I have also instructed the governer to select men and women 8 to 10 in number that will form. Panels of discussions to ask particular questions from the public. It is anticipated that His Majesty will return to Sibaya to make his closing remarks on Thursday. It is also expected that His Majesty will also announce who will be “the captain of the ship” of Government in the role of Prime Minister as part of his address.
