NEW PARK OPENED IN MBABANE

MBABANE– The Mbangweni community officially has a recreational park.

The Municipal Council of Mbabane yesterday launched the park after a cultural exchange program with the International Leadership Academy (ILA).

The park is named after the council’s flagship program (ILA) and to officially open the park, six indigenous trees were planted by the sister cities, board members, ILA alumni, council officials and Mbangweni residents.

The park is situated at Mbangweni in Mbabane and will feature a section that will have recreational facilities including a braai area, courts and a walking trail to the mountain.

The Mbabane Mayor, Daphney Mhlanga, made the announcement during the welcome event of the Fort Worth delegation that is in Eswatini.

“It pleases me to announce that the delegation’s visit coincides with the commission of the International Leadership Academy Park in Mbabane which will serve as a symbolic reminder of all the successes borne out of the strategic relationship between Fort Worth city and the City of Mbabane,” said the mayor.

The mayor further urged the community to take care of the facility and be active in keeping it useful as it develops into its full multi-use capacity.

The council has grand plans for the park and the public will be briefed during the tour of the ILA Park today about future plans and how it dovetails into the long-term greening initiatives of the city.
