NGWENYA – There is a new kid on the block at Ngwenya.

A new police post known as Ngwenya Police Post has been officially opened here – a move which will help reduce the perimeter that was travelled by residents who wanted police help. It has been projected that the post will cover Ngwenya, Kupheleni, Hawane to Nkoyoyo.

The official launching of the post was attended by Motshane Member of Parliament, Minister of Housing and Urban Development Prince Simelane, Princess Tsandzile and NATCOM William Dlamini.

When addressing the crowd, Prince Simelane said it was his wish that security hardship allowance be increased to 60 or 70 percent from the current fugure. He said when he last checked, the allowance was 20 percent.

“My wish is that by December 2022 the number of security forces rise to 10 000 per force,” he said.

He said the newly opened post will play a major role in combating crime considering the fact that illegal weapons that can be used to destabilise the country might be sneaked into the kingdom through Ngenya.

Meanwhile, MP Magongo has thanked the government for establishing a police post here. He said this was because serious crimes are witnessed in Ngwenya. “However, we are not saying there should be police brutality but help reduce crime,” he said.
