MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Services has urged all Emaswati to consider each other’s rights while enjoying New Year’s Eve.

The warning was communicated by the Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Senior Superintended Phindile Vilakati this morning. She said some end up not seeing New Year because of how they conduct themselves on eve.

“Our National Commissioner, Lydia Dlamini mentioned a few things that tend to violate other people’s rights. For example fireworks, they are allowed but to a certain extent to avoid property damage and give other people a chance to sleep because some companies are operating during the holidays,” she said.

Vilakati cautioned parents to guard their children when use fireworks. The police mouthpiece said children must be supervised when using fireworks because in the past years, there were cases where children got injured while playing with fireworks on new year’s eve.

“We also expect bars and other places that sell alcohol to close at the stipulated time, and they will be forced to do so by police patrols. if they do not follow instructions from the police, it may threaten their trading licence. This is to avoid the loud noise from the music played at night,” said Vilakati.
