In an official press briefing yesterday at Ludzidzini Royal Residence, the Minister of Home Affairs, Princess Lindiwe, revealed that King Mswati III has blessed August 31, 2023, as a day for the public to send gifts to the King.
This announcement comes in anticipation of the upcoming 55/55 double celebration, which will commemorate both the King’s birthday and the country’s independence day.
The arrival time for the event is set for 0900hrs., with the activities scheduled to commence at 1400 hrs. The Minister assured the people of Eswatini that preparations for this highly anticipated event are well underway.
To ensure the smooth running of the celebration, the Minister emphasised that the public must adhere to the guidelines provided for the presentation of gifts on the designated day. These guidelines are aimed at maintaining order, security, and respect for the occasion.
“The 55/55 double celebration holds great significance for Eswatini, as it honours both the leadership of King Mswati III and the nation’s independence. It provides an opportunity for the citizens of Eswatini to express their gratitude and respect for the King’s unwavering commitment and dedication to the country’s progress and prosperity,” said the Minister.
She further urged the public to participate actively in the gift-giving day to demonstrate their loyalty and support for his Majesty King Mswati III.
She further encouraged emaSwati to prepare thoughtful and meaningful gifts that reflect the nation’s appreciation for the King’s leadership.
