MBABANE – International player Mxolisi Mkhontfo is expected to play three games in nine days for both the national team, Sihlangu and his team, Botswana’s Jwaneng Galaxy.
The former Green Mamba player is currently with Sihlangu in camp for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers games against Angola and Mauritius to be played on June 7 and 11, respectively.
He is expected to rush back to Botswana for his team’s Orange FA Cup final against Orapa United to be played June 15 at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.
His team is set to make a double if they are crowned champions after winning the Botswana Premier League early this month in his first season with the club.
Mkhontfo, who also played for Malanti Chiefs in the country, is set to return to the national team after the Orange FA Cup final to be part of the Council of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) squad.
The COSAFA tournament is set for late June and it is expected to be hosted by South Africa in Durban. All the 26 players that were called up by the Sihlangu Coach Dominic Kunene are expected to also play in the COSAFA Cup that usually takes two weeks.
Mkhontfo reported to Sihlangu camp with Zambia’s Zesco United’s Lindo Mkhontfo while South Africa’s Richards Bay forward Justice Figuareido is the only missing player in the Sihlangu camp as his side is preparing for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) play-offs that start on Saturday ending June 19.
