NSINGIZINI HOTSPURS FC DEFENDS MOMO CUP TITLE

MBABANE – For the second time in a row,  Nsingizini Hotspurs FC has been crowned the champions of the MOMO Cup. The Shiselweni-based team managed to edge out Mbabane Swallows 4-1 on penalties in the match that took place at the Mavuso Sports Centre yesterday.

The opening match of the finals was intense as both teams were fighting to secure scoring chances. Nsingizini Hotspurs, also known as “Insingizi Yezulu,” took the lead in the 21st minute through Sinenkhosi “China” Dlamini who also won the award for top Goalscorer overall and player of the match in the first game against Moneni Pirates.

The game progressed, and Mbabane Swallows managed to equalize in the 54th minute through Siyabonga Zwane. The game’s last minutes were thrilling to watch as both teams fought for the winning goal. The match ended in a 1-1 draw and then went into penalty shootouts, which Nsingizini Hotspurs  FC won.

The defending champions, Nsingizini Hotspurs go home 600 000 richer this year. The team’s players were also awarded individual prizes. These include Thubelihle Mavuso, who won the award for Player of the Tournament and Man of the Match, Sibusiso “Bharaba” Dlamini, who won the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament, and Sinenkhosi, who won the top Goalscorer of the tournament and player of the match in the first game.

The Nsingizini Hotspurs FC has set a new milestone in Eswatini’s soccer history by successfully defending its title. The team showed outstanding teamwork, resilience, and determination throughout the tournament, which ultimately paid off in the finals.

The entire Shiselweni community celebrates the team’s victory and hopes that they will continue to maintain their winning streak in the future.
