MBABANE – Talent at its finest!
It is safe to say Eswatini has been blessed with talented individuals in different fields, be it music, TV, or fashion. This refers to Nonsikelelo Dlamini, also known as Ntsikie, who has the talent for threads and designs.
She showcased her master piece at the recent launch of the Miss Heritage Cultural Heritage 2024/25, which was held at the Bethel Court in Ezulwini last Thursday (June 13, 2024).
She also designed the outfits for the models that were part of the fashion show that took place at the launch.
Dlamini was born in Shiselweni but is now based in Manzini, where she runs her business. She shared with this publication that she went to Mjingo High School. She said, “I then enrolled at Ngwane Park Training Centre, where I studied fashion and design.”
When asked when she fell in love with fashion, she said, “I fell in love with fashion at a very young age. I really cannot say when exactly, but I grew up altering almost all my clothes. I was more into designing than sewing; I just love creating my own thing and being unique. I only went to school to sharpen my talent.”
According to Dlamini, her first clients were her sisters and mom. They have supported her since day one, and they still do. Her other client is Sphesihle Nkwanyana, mainly for tees dresses.
When asked about the masterpiece, she said, “That masterpiece. I was just playing around, and then boom, I came up with three dresses in one. It is interesting how one can wear three or even more different styles, and they all look good.”
