OVER 2000 CHILDREN TO BENEFIT FROM FOOD DONATION FROM MANZINI LIONS CLUB

MBABANE – Following the spate of pollical unrest witnessed in Mbabane Council has found herself of food assistance to continue assisting the about 2,000 children fed in the capital city.

According to the Mbabane Town Council, the Manzini Lions Club has stepped forward and donated much needed food items to the Municipal Council of Mbabane that will continue to feed the multitude of children that are need of food aid in the capital city.

“Council is grateful with the partnership with Growmore Manzini through their incoming President Patrick Gamedze for the donation worth about E5,986.50,” stated Lucky Tsabedze, Information and Public Relations Officer at the Mbabane Town Council.

The food donation is as follows:

  1.  6 x 50 kg –       Lukhotse Maize Meal
  2. 18 x 5 kg   –       Split Beans
  3. 3 x 25 kg   –       Sugar
  4. 3(50kg)     –       Emabele
  5. 9(1kg)       –       Green bar Soap 

“Council would like to extend its appreciation to the and encourage other businesses to follow suit and extend a helping hand to the less privileged at a time when communities are faced with food shortage,” Tsabedze said.

Following the recent political unrest that led to the destruction and vandalism of properties, Council properties were not spared.

A total of three Council health and social centers were vandalized, and a guard house was also set alight at Nkwalini health and social centre at the height of the vandalism and looting witnessed around the country. The widespread vandalism has left Council with the task to rebuild these centres and make them fit for use by communities again.
