MBABANE – Thirty four thousand and more!

This is the number of people in different areas of the country who have benefitted from food parcels that were donated by World Vision Eswatini in partnership with the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) over a period of five months in the year 2022.

According to Lungile Dlamini, Communications and Campaigns Manager, the ‘Food for Assets Distribution’ was made possible through the one million kilograms (1 000 metric tonnes) of rice from World Vision Taiwan.

“These commodities were delivered in April 2022 and then the project distribution began in May 2022,” said Dlamini.

The Communications and Campaigns Manager mentioned that this took place under 15 constituencies under the Lubombo, Shiselweni and Hhohho regions in the country. She also stated that the project was valued at about E2.4 million and has helped many members.

According to the World Vision website, World Vision works with the communities to identify and implement community assets and public work projects that help the most vulnerable graduate from food assistance. In addition to receiving food rations, participants learn skills and knowledge to support sustainable livelihoods for a hunger-free future.
