MBABANE – National prayer, Parliament opening, and Buganu dates have been revealed.
The opening of the First Session of the 12th Parliament is scheduled for Friday, February 9 in Parliament, Lobamba. That would have been preceded by the National Prayer, which is slated for Saturday, February 3. The National Prayer is usually held at Mandvulo Grand Hall, Lozitha Palace.
This year’s Buhleni Buganu Ceremony is set to be held from Friday, February 16 up to Sunday, February 18. It is usually held at Buhleni Royal Residence. Two weeks after that event, the nation will be expected to converge at Hlane Royal Residence for the second event of this year’s Buganu Ceremony.
The National Prayer to be held next week is a prayer that is held at the beginning of a year. This event is meant for the nation to meet and praise the Lord for having protected the nation the previous year and to ask for his mercy as the year begins.
At the end of each year, another National Prayer is usually held at the same place. That prayer is meant to thank the Lord for having protected the nation during the course of the year. Parliament opening is usually an event meant for the King to give direction to the policy makers of the country on how to guide the nation towards economic and social prosperity.
That is when the King delivers his Speech from the Throne, where he directs the legislators on what to focus on, as they guide the country towards achieving its goals. Buganu Ceremony is usually meant to celebrate the availability of the Buganu fruits and for the nation to come together and celebrate the beauty and advantages presented by this fruit. These events, which are usually led by Lutsango Lwaka Ngwane, also present an opportunity for Emaswati to learn skills necessary to face challenges that came with life.
