MBABANE – Pay water bills from home!
The Eswatini Water Services Corporation has made it possible for users of the popular MTN Mobile Money (MoMo) to pay for the water bills on the EWSC smartphone application as well.
The company made this announcement through their official Facebook page November 1 2022, citing that customers now have the option of using MoMo on the EWSC mobile in addition to using their bank cards to pay.
“You spoke and we heard, now enjoy the benefit of using MoMo on the EWSC App,” said EWSC through their Facebook page.
This opens up more opportunities for emaSwati to pay for their bills through the app, as more people have mobile money services in Eswatini than they do bank accounts – according to a 2019 report by Finmark Trust.
Speaking to EPN about the development, Eswatini Consumers Association Chairman Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli commended EWSC on the development. He noted that what is important is giving consumers many options to access their services without necessarily spending time and effort going to an EWSC service centre.
The EWSC app can be downloaded on Google Play or the Apple iPhone App Store. This is the latest of technological developments by the EWSC as part of their campaign to reduce queues and increase digital access to their services and information – as promoted by the hashtags #Phumedelezini and #Tila.
