…Registering station popular at the Festival

MBABANE– This year’s elections promise to be bigger, as the Nation continues to exercise on their rights registering to vote.

Over 236 000 people have registered for the 2023 National Elections.

Numbers released by the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) showed that the overall number of people who have registered for the national elections from May 10, 2023, to yesterday evening was 236 445.

Worth noting is that the country is from the three-day festival, MTN Bushfire where a number of emaSwati gathered, joined other natives for a fun-filled weekend.

The EBC was also present and conducted registration services to eligible people throughout the festival.

People also showed interest and went up to the stall to either enquire or register.

Meanwhile according to the statistics, the daily average of people who register in a day is 13 136.

In terms of gender, women who registered make 50.04 per cent of the entire figure. A total of 125 455 females had registered by yesterday. Males made up 46.94 per cent of the entire figure with 110 990.

EBC Communications Officer Mbonisi Bhembe continues to advocate for the Nation to register.

“Building responsive and democratic governance begins with active participation in democratic elections,” he said.
