MBABANE– The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy has announced that the price of Unleaded Petrol 95 will increase by 80 cents per litre with effect from Thursday midnight, March 2.

However, the price of Diesel 50 ppm S and Illuminating Paraffin will remain unchanged. According to the ministry’s Principal Secretary Dorcas Dlamini, the Unleaded Petrol 95 price increase is a result of the high increase in the international petrol prices coupled with weaker Lilangeni and Dollar exchange rate.

“The Brent Crude Oil prices remained volatile as Russia announced a production cut in retaliation to the European Union (EU) sanctions. However, economic forces stabilised the markets hence the crude oil prices traded at an average of US$84.15 (approximately E1 531) a barrel compared to an average of US$83.51 (approximately E1 520) a barrel realised in the month of January, 2023,” Dlamini said in a statement.

The Lilangeni/Dollar exchange rate slightly weakened and averaged E17.76 in the month of February 2023 as compared to the E17.05 realized in the month of January, 2023.

“The Ministry encourages the public to use fuel efficiently as the international oil markets and the Lilangeni / Dollar exchange rate remain highly volatile.”

NEW FUEL PRICES:

•           Unleaded Petrol (ULP 95) Diesel (0.005%S) price will increase by 80 cents per litre from E19.50 per litre to E20.30 per litre

•           Diesel (0.005%S) price will remain unchanged at E22.40 per litre;

•           The Illuminating Paraffin price will remain unchanged at E16.45 per litre.
