SOCCER – It is difficult to avoid it and Young Buffaloes coach Mandla ‘Stofu’ Dlamini admits his stars are one step from walking away with the MTN Premier League E100 000 first round ‘carrot’.
Yet to test defeat Buffaloes are one win away from winning the incentive and will play host to newcomers Seven Dreams at Nsukuwansuku Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Speaking during Friday’s pre-match press conference at Sigwaca House, Dlamini said his players were positive of maximum points under expected scorching hot conditions down east.
“We haven’t seen Seven Dreams play and we will work hard as we have done in all the games. We do not care about their log position, we won’t undermine them and we will go all out for a win.
“The carrot is there and the players are positive they will win it. They want the incentive but we will not have that in my mind but rather look at the overall targeted points as we go forward,” Dlamini said.
With no defeat recorded, captain Sihlangu Mkhwanazi said they remain focused on the job which was winning the MTN Premier League when the curtain falls at the end of the season. “We have a target as a team, which was 30 points in the first round, and winning the ‘carrot’ will be a bonus. We respect Seven Dreams and despite them being bottom of the log, they deserve to be in Premier League,” the Sihlangu hard-tackling defender said.
