MBABANE – Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini has returned from Tanzania where he represented His Majesty King Mswati III loand the Nation at the Africa Heads of State and Government Summit on Human Capital.
At the Summit, the Kingdom of Eswatini, as part of a Declaration for Africa Heads of State, made a commitment to improve the quality of education in rural areas, through ensuring that in each and every school there is a science laboratory, an IT laboratory and a library.
During the Summit, Heads of States and Ministers deliberated and shared best practices on the role of Human Capital in deriving economic growth and development.
They also addressed interventions and investment needs in areas such as education and skills development for youth and women.
Eswatini was a panellist during the Ministerial Forum, where countries were sharing experiences on ‘Investing in and utilising Human Capital for growth opportunities, achievements and challenges,’ attended by Minister of Economic Planning and Development Dr Thambo Gina.
The Prime Minister, meanwhile, participated in a panel discussion by Heads of States addressing the topic: ‘Are we ready to invest in education and productivity of young Africans?’
From the Tanzania state website it was mentioned that the Africa Human Capital Heads of State Summit came in response to engagements with government focal points on the need to draw attention to the role of human capital in economic growth and elevate the discussion on the importance of investing in people.
“The Summit fostered technical deliberation, shared the latest knowledge on human capital, and concluded with concrete commitments and next steps from the participating Heads of State,” read the website info.
