Prime Minister attended the Workers’ Day celebrations together with Minister for Labour and Social Security Phila Buthelezi and Minister for Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jane Mkhonta-Simelane.

In his speech, the premier said it was unfortunate that they could not get an opportunity to deliver their speech as Government, because Workers began singing political slogans and sound system was deliberately interrupted, with an intention of preventing Government to make its address.

However, the prime minister said they had an opportunity to hear what the workers had to say, as they arrived on time to listen to what the workers had to say. He said Government would work on the concerns raised by the workers during the event.

Dlamini also noted that as they witnessed the event, they realised that there was a need for the leadership of the unions to be capacitated. He highlighted that Government had extended its hands to engage workers on their important day, but it became clear that unions were not ready to listen to Government.
