It is reported that the people in the Republic of Kenya died after being swept away in their sleep by a flood resulting from a nearby dam burst. This follows heavy rains by El Nino, which has been prevalent in East Africa in the recent weeks.

The Prime Minister said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the deceased as well as H.E. President William Ruto, the Government and people of Kenya during this difficult time”. Dlamini shared.

He also stated that as Government of Eswatini, they continued to call on the global community, through the international cooperation, to prioritise the disaster risk reduction and appropriately address the impacts of El Nino and come up with interventions that will effectively tackle the challenges that are brought about by this phenomenon.
