MBABANE – The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) views health of its staff members as vital in making sure that there is effectiveness as they do their job.
The police are responsible for ensuring safety of Emaswati by protecting their lives and property. As they execute their mandate, it is imperative that the law enforcers stay physically fit and healthy because this is what their job demands from them.
It is for this reason why the police are eagerly anticipating being part of the World Health Day. The World Health Day is supposed to be celebrated this coming Sunday, as it is commemorated on April 7 of every year.
Assistant Commissioner of Police, Zanele Nxumalo, who is responsible for the Health and Wellness Directorate in the REPS reflects on the significance of World Health Day. Speaking on REPS’ Facebook page, Nxumalo recognised the critical role played by REPS in not only maintaining law and order, but also in promoting the health of the communities served by this organisation, highlighting the organisations’ unique bid to foster a positive relationship with the communities served by the police.
REPS Medical Doctor Cedric Wawa also pointed out the importance of health within the police service. He said World Health Day was exclusively important for the overall well-being of the police officers. Wawa found himself as one of the lucky people to be responsible for the health and well-being of the police, together with the entire nursing staff within the organisation.
